Close Encounters: A visit of Two Hummingbirds part I of III

I am honored to share with everyone an inquiry regarding a hummingbird moment sent to me on April 20, 2008:

Hi, My name is Y.D., this Friday I was cleaning my house and left the door open, when I wasn’t in the living room two humming birds flew in, I walked back into the room and saw them trying to get out of the living room windows which can’t really be opened, I called out to my room mate to help me.

I wasn’t sure if I could catch the humming bird without harming it, but then I did holding it in both my hands I walked to the front door and released it, the second one was still inside and my room mate was still trying to catch it, I thought about trying to catch it instead of him, and then stopped I realized that it was no coincidence that two had come in the house, I told my room mate don’t be afraid you won’t hurt it and it is so fun to set them free, and then just like that he managed to catch the second one and set it free. I can’t help but feel that this was a strong message only I am not sure what it means. Can you help me with some insight? Y.D.

In our next post we will explore this experience from a Shaman or Energy Worker viewpoint! You can subscribe to this feed by clicking the subscribe button.

I was a hummingbird on my geraniums today he stayed for about 2-3 minutes I was so very much wanted to hold him. I have not seen a hummingbird since I was a small girl, now I’m almost fifty. What does this mean?

Hummingbirds do love geraniums! I’ve seen them place their beak in a flower that was still in the bud stage to drink from it, ignoring the open flowers.

The hummingbirds have always been there, but at a distance. For you they usually stay behind your left shoulder, and out of sight. You are changing your energy, slowing down, relaxing a little more. As fast as those little wings beat, hummingbirds do not like heavy emotions, or anger, or struggle. My friends do not show up when I am too serious or caught in my ego. Congratulations, you’ve made a nice shift according to the hummingbirds!

  • I have recently been visited by many hummingbirds. I have no feeder and have no food out but, they seem to arrive at odd times. Generally when I am working at home they will show up with yellow finches. There is probably 5-8 yellow finches then all of the sudden I will see two hummingbirds appear.

What’s funny is they will fly all around then they will land in a tree that is looking directly into my second story window. They will sit there for what seems a minute or so then fly around and do it again. This encounter generally lasts upwards to five minutes.

Not sure what this means or if it means anything but, it sure is beautiful.

Thanks fr letting me tell my story.

Thanks for your Story, John! What a great encounter! Hummingbirds are amazing creatures. I am often asked in a reading session about totem animals and animal spirit guides. They many times support us in our learning process. Then we can look at this pairing of birds and its meaning.

Even if there is nothing else we can give ourselves credit for slowing down and paying enough attention to those signs and symbols in our lives. In this busy world our spiritual connections can often be overlooked.

Sometimes its great to just sit back and enjoy the show, and it sounds like you did just that!

  • Hummingbirds are so adorable. Thanks for writing this!
