A Hummingbird In the Hand is Worth – The World!!

Hummingbirds do not do well in captivity, and it is never advised to try to keep one as a pet. They will boldly feed from your hand, if you have the patience and can stand quietly waiting.

In my teen days I spent summer months at my sisters fishing resort, and the hummingbirds would constantly enter the boat house. They would work hard to escape, but often would end up trapped trying to get out through a window that could not be opened. I took on the role of rescuer, and escorted many back out into the open air. Those days may have set some precedence for my current role with the hummingbirds, but regardless I have spent a lifetime honoring these fine little birds.
